Applicable to those using Airtel Payments Bank
1. Most Important Terms & Conditions (MITC)
1.1. Introduction
As a holder of “Wallet” issued by Airtel Payments Bank Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Bank”), the Customer is subject to the below Terms & Conditions (hereinafter referred to as T&C”). Any changes in the T&C shall be available on the Bank’s website i.e. www.airtelpayments.bank.in. Any changes in the T&C shall be available on the Bank’s website www.airtelpayments.bank.in. By enrolling/applying for the Wallet issued by the Bank, the Customer acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these T&C. The below-stated MITC is a summary for ease of reference and is subject to the General Terms and Conditions.
1.2 Classification of Wallets & Their Validity
· Minimum KYC Wallet (With No Cash Loading Facility) shall have unlimited validity and the loadings of values to such Wallets shall be allowed only from a Bank Account or Full-KYC PPI.
· Minimum KYC Wallet (With Cash Loading Facility) shall be valid for a period of 24 months from the date of issuance.
· PPI-MTS (Mass Transit System Wallet) shall be used for transit payments only and shall have perpetual validity.
1.3 Transaction & Balance Limits of Wallets
· For Minimum KYC Wallets, the maximum balance at any time shall not exceed Rs. 9,000/- and the monthly credit and debit limits shall not exceed Rs. 9,000/- each.
· For Minimum KYC Wallets with cash loading facility, the annual cash loading limit shall not exceed Rs. 49,999/-.
· For PPI-MTS Wallets, the maximum balance at any point of time shall not exceed Rs. 3,000/-, the monthly credit limit shall not exceed Rs. 10,000/- and the annual credit limit shall not exceed rs. 1,20,000/-.
· Cash withdrawal from any Wallet category shall not permitted and no interest shall be payable on Wallet balances.
1.4 KYC Compliance
· KYC compliance for all category of Wallets shall be mandatory as per regulatory guidelines and failure to complete KYC within stipulated timelines will result in transaction restrictions or closure of the Wallet Bank.
1.5 Dormancy & Closure
· Wallets with no Customer initiated financial transactions for 12 consecutive months will be marked Dormant and transactions will be restricted on such Wallets until reactivation by the Customer.
· If the Wallet remains inactive for 3 consecutive months, a wallet maintenance fee of Rs. 20/- per month (inclusive of taxes) will be levied on such Wallets starting from the 4th month of the Wallet inactivity.
· Bank may close the inactive Wallets with NIL or balance between Rs. 0– Rs. 100.
1.6 Applicable Charges
· All the charges, fees and cashback on the Wallet shall be levied as per the Schedule of Charges published by the Bank at www.airtelpayments.bank.in/bank-charges/min-full-kyc-wallets and the same may vary from time to time.
1.7 Suspension, Freeze, and Closure
· The Bank may suspend or freeze the Wallet without prior notice of the Customer if any fraud is reported against such Wallet by any Law Enforcement Agency, any other regulatory authority government body or quasi-judicial bodies or in case of insolvency / incompetency of the Customer. The Bank may also freeze, suspend or close the Wallet if the operation of the Wallet appears to be disproportionate to the Customer’s profile or if the source of funds is unclear.
· The Bank may close the Wallet if it remains in Dormant state or the registered mobile number of the Customer appears in the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL) issued by TRAI or if there are Wallets opened with bad/foul names,
· The Customer may request for closure of the Wallet, and the Bank shall process refund of such closed Wallets, if any as per regulatory guidelines and only to the source account used for loading of the funds in the said Wallet.
1.8 Customer Obligations & Liability
· The Customer shall maintain confidentiality of the mPIN of the Wallet. The Customer will be solely responsible for any unauthorized transactions arising from negligence of the Customer or sharing of the Wallet credentials.
· The Customer must report loss of mobile/SIM or compromise of the Wallet credentials immediately to the Bank.
1.9 Grievance Redressal
· For queries or complaints the Customer can call the Bank’s Customer Care Team at 1800-23400 or email wecare@airtelbank.com.

2. General Terms and Conditions For Wallet
These General Terms and Conditions (“General Terms”) govern the issuance, use and maintenance of all category of Wallet services offered by Airtel Payments Bank Limited (“Bank”) and this document shall be read in conjunction to specific terms and conditions as may be applicable to any category of Wallet (“Wallet Terms & Conditions”). By enrolling for or using the Wallet issued by the Bank or any related services, the Customer acknowledges that they have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these General Terms, as amended from time to time.
Customer further agrees that the opening and maintenance of the Wallet from the Bank is subject to the rules and regulations introduced or amended from time to time by the Reserve Bank of India (“RBI”) or any other regulatory or statutory authority. In the event that any provision of General Terms is held to be in violation of any applicable law or if for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision of these General Terms or portion thereof, to be unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible so as to effect the intent of these General Terms, and the remainder of these General Terms shall continue in full force and effect.
2.1 Definitions:
a) Airtel Payments Bank Wallet shall mean the pre-paid payment instrument including Minimum KYC Wallet (With and Without Cash Loading Facility) and PPIs-MTS offered by Airtel Payments Bank vide the permission granted by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to issue the same. Wallet shall collectively mean and include all categories of prepaid payment instruments issued by Airtel Payments Bank, namely, Minimum KYC Wallet (With and Without Cash loading Facility) and PPIs-MTS. For all purposes under these terms and conditions, references to "Wallet" shall mean and include any and all such types of Wallets without distinction, unless separately specified.
b) Airtel Payments Bank Minimum KYC Wallet (with no cash loading facility)” shall mean an Airtel Payments Bank Wallet classified as small prepaid payment instrument issued by the Bank by accepting minimum Customer details and having unlimited validity.
c) Airtel Payments Bank Minimum KYC Wallet (with cash loading facility)” shall mean an Airtel Payments Bank Wallet classified as small prepaid payment instrument issued by the Bank by accepting minimum Customer details with validity of 24 months from the date of issuance.
d) PPIs for Mass Transit Systems (PPI-MTS)” shall mean an Airtel Payments Bank wallet classified as PPI-MTS - prepaid payment instrument issued by the Bank to be utilised only at mass transit system (As mentioned hereunder).
e) “Access Channel” shall mean the method used by the Customer to access the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet which includes USSD, IVR, website or the smartphone application available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
f) “Applicable Laws” shall mean and include all such statues, regulations, rules, amendments, directives, directions, guidelines, notifications, circular, judicial pronouncements and administrative guidelines that may be in force etc. issued by the Government, State or any governmental or statutory or regulatory authority as made applicable on the issuance and use of Wallets issued by Airtel Payments Bank and related services from time to time.
g) "Charge(s)" or "Service Charge" shall mean the charges which the Bank may levy upon the Customer for availing/using the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet(s).
h) "Customer" shall mean an individual who is an Indian resident above the age of 18 years who has registered with the Bank for availing Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and who has accepted the Terms and Conditions and owns a compatible mobile phone that supports Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
i) “Domestic Money Transfer” refers to the money remittance facility offered to Customers who do not have access to formal banking channel.
j) “Fund” means ‘The Depositor Education and Awareness Fund’ established by the Reserve Bank of India under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
k) "KYC" stands for Know Your Customer and refers to the various norms, rules, laws and statutes issued by RBI from time to time under which the Bank is required to procure personal identification details and authorization from the Customer as may be required at the time of enrolling for Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and/ or on a later date, for availing and / or continuation of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
l) "Merchant Establishment" shall mean and include physical merchants, remote merchants, electronic commerce merchants, mobile commerce merchants and/or any other merchants who have been authorized by the Bank to accept payment for goods or services or financial services using the Airtel Payments Bank Account.
m) "M-PIN" shall mean the secret numeric password used to secure the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet without knowledge of which the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet will not be operable.
n) “Registration Form” shall mean the digital form to be completed in writing by the Customer along with necessary supporting documents, as required by the Bank for enrolling for the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
o) "Transaction" shall mean any credit and debit of money balance in the Customer’s Airtel Payments Bank Wallet including but not limited to financial services or Domestic Money Transfers or payment for purchase of goods or services at all identified Merchant Establishments.
p) "USSD" means Unstructured Supplementary Services Data and refers to a method of accessing and using the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet, i.e. by dialling a specified short code from the mobile number registered with the Bank for Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
q) “Wallet to Wallet Transfer" refers to a facility provided by the Bank whereby an Airtel Payments Bank Wallet Customer can transfer funds to any other Airtel Payments Bank Wallet .
r) “Wallet to Bank Transfer” refers to a facility provided by the Bank whereby an Airtel Payments Bank Wallet Customer can transfer funds to Airtel Payments Bank Current and Savings Bank Accounts savings account. This facility shall not be allowed for of Minimum KYC Wallet.
2.2 Wallet Classification & Validity & Transaction Limits
a) The Wallets issued by Airtel Payments Bank shall be classified into the following categories with the respective validity:
i. Minimum KYC Wallet (With No Cash Loading Facility): These category of Wallets shall have unlimited validity and the loadings of values to such Wallets shall be allowed only from a Bank Account or Full-KYC PPI.
ii. Minimum KYC Wallet (With Cash Loading Facility): These category of Wallets shall be valid for a period of 24 months from the date of issuance.
iii. PPI-MTS (Mass Transit System Wallet): These category of Wallets shall be used for transit payments only and shall have perpetual validity.
b) The Customer may note that withdrawing cash from any category of Wallet shall not be allowed. Any outstanding amounts in the Wallet must be utilized only to make payments for bona-fide Transactions.
c) The maximum permissible value for cumulative credit transaction in a calendar month in Airtel Payments Bank Minimum KYC Wallet (with cashloading & without cashloading facility) is Rs.9,000/- (Rupees Nine Thousand Only). Similarly, the maximum permissible value for cumulative debit transactions in a calendar month in such Wallets shall not exceed Rs. 9,000/- (Rupees Nine Thousand Only) and yearly credit limit of Rs.1,10,000/- (Rs. One Lac Ten Thousand Only). Additionally, the cumulative balance in such Wallets at any point in time shall not be above Rs. 9,000/-.
d) The Customer maintaining Airtel Payments Bank Minimum KYC Wallet (with cashloading facility) issued by Airtel Payments Bank shall be subjected to yearly cash loading limit of Rs.49,999/- (Rupees forty-nine thousand nine ninety-nine).
e) No interest will be paid on balance maintained in any category of Wallets.
f) All Wallets shall be reloadable in nature. Loading / Reloading of a Wallet with no cash loading facility shall be from a Bank Account or a Full-KYC PPI.
g) For transactions through USSD, the maximum permitted value of a single Transaction is Rs.5,000 (Rupees Five Thousand Only).
h) The Customer shall at all times maintain only one type of relationship (as per bank internal policy) with Airtel Payments Bank and shall promptly inform Airtel Payments Bank in case of any violation or default in the same so as to enable Airtel Payments Bank to initiate appropriate action for blocking/closing any such secondary/alternate relationship Wallet. However, Bank may allow two more than one product to its customer only when the other product is PPIs-MTS such as NCMC cards.
i) The Customer may credit the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet using any of the methods mentioned at https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/ . The list of cash-in outlets, limits and methods of crediting Airtel Payments Bank Wallet are subject to change as per discretion of the Bank. Updated information regarding such changes will be made available on the aforementioned website.
2.3 Interpretation
a) All references to singular include plural and vice versa and the term "includes" should be construed as "without limitation".
b) Words importing any gender include the other gender.
c) Reference to any statute, ordinance or other law shall include all regulations and other instruments under such law and shall also include consolidations, amendments, re-enactments or replacements in force from time to time.
d) All headings, bold typing and italics (if any) have been inserted for convenience of reference only and do not define limit or affect the meaning or interpretation of these Terms & Conditions.
2.4 Documentation & KYC
a) The collection, verification, audit and maintenance of correct and updated Customer information is a continuous process, and the Bank reserves the right, at any time, to take necessary steps to ensure compliance with all relevant and applicable KYC requirements. The Bank reserves the right to discontinue services/ reject applications for Airtel Payments Bank Wallet at any point time if there are discrepancies in information and/or documentation provided by the Customer.
b) Any information provided to the Bank with the intention of securing Airtel Payments Bank Wallet shall vest with the Bank, and may be used by the Bank, for any purpose consistent with any applicable law or regulation, at its discretion. This information can also be shared with the third parties and used for promotional and analytical purposes subject to Privacy Policy of the Bank.
c) For any information provided by the Customer to the Bank for any purpose, via any medium, Customer is solely responsible for the correctness of that information. If the information provided by Customer is found to be incorrect or erroneous, the Bank shall not be liable for any consequences arising from incorrect or erroneous information provided by the Customer If the Customer discovers any incorrect information or erroneous information related to his/her Wallet, the Customer shall promptly notify the Bank about the same and take appropriate measures for correction of the same. In the event the Bank finds out that the information provided by the Customer is false or erroneous, the Bank reserves the right to terminate the Customer’s account and forfeit any balance lying therein in compliance with applicable laws and regulatory guidelines.
2.5 Customer Obligations
a) Airtel Payments Bank Wallet availability is subject to the maintenance of an active Indian mobile phone connection with a telecom service provider and a mobile phone handset that supports Access Channels. The Customer is solely responsible for all liability arising from the unavailability of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet due to non-maintenance of an active Indian mobile phone connection with the telecom service provider or a mobile handset not supporting the Access Channels.
b) It shall at all times be the Customer’s responsibility to ensure the availability of sufficient funds before executing any Transaction from the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
c) The Customer shall be solely responsible for the confidentiality, safety and security of the M- PIN associated with their Wallet. The Customer shall be the sole owner of the M-PIN and shall be responsible for the consequences arising out of any disclosure of the M-PIN to any third person/party/entity/organization and/or due to the unauthorized use/access of the Customer’s Airtel Payments Bank Wallet. In case the M-PIN is lost or misplaced, the Customer shall promptly inform the Bank by calling at the Customer Care Number where after the M-PIN will be barred and a new M-PIN will be issued to the Customer after such appropriate and necessary validation checks by Airtel Payments Bank. In case the mobile phone/ SIM card associated with the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet is lost/stolen/misplaced/ no longer in the Customer’s control or possession or operational, the Customer shall promptly inform the Bank.
d) The Customer shall only use Airtel Payments Bank Wallet for financial services or Transactions with the approved Merchant Establishment and Bank.
e) The Customer shall intimate the Bank about change in any information, including but not limited to change in address etc. within one week along with such proof of change as per the KYC documents and further provide any such further/other information and documents that the Bank may request from time to time.
f) The Customer shall not use Airtel Payments Bank Wallet for any purpose that might be construed as contrary or repugnant to any Applicable Law, regulation, guideline, judicial dicta, the Bank policy or public policy or for any purpose that might negatively prejudice the goodwill of the Bank.
g) The Customer acknowledges and understands that Airtel Payments Bank Wallet are linked to the mobile phone connection, and the Customer shall be solely responsible for any liability arising out of the loss/ theft / misuse of the mobile phone number or deactivation of mobile connection by the telecommunications service provider.
h) The Customer shall ensure that the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet are not used for Transactions in foreign currency.
i) The Customer shall at all times maintain single type of Airtel Payments Bank Wallet with Airtel Payments Bank (as per internal policy) and shall promptly inform Airtel Payments Bank in case of any violation or default in the same so as to enable Airtel Payments Bank to initiate appropriate action for blocking/closing any such secondary/alternate Wallet. However, Bank may offer two more than one product to its customer only when the other product is PPI-MTS.
2.6 Right of The Bank To Suspend/ Freeze/ Terminate And Close Wallet
a) The Bank may modify, terminate and/or suspend Airtel Payments Wallet of the Customer anytime, due to any changes in internal policies, rules, regulations and laws set by relevant authorities/regulators. Customer understands and agrees that the Bank has the right to freeze their Wallet if any fraud is reported against such wallet by Law Enforcement Agency, any other regulatory authority government body or quasi-judicial bodies or in case of insolvency / incompetency of the Customer.
b) Notwithstanding anything contained elsewhere, the Bank reserves the right to freeze /apply lien /suspend/discontinue its products/services to the Customer and/or close the account and/or to refuse or delay processing of transactions initiated by the Customer, at any time, for any cause, including, but not limited, to the following:
i. For any suspected violation / non-compliance of the Applicable Laws
ii. To combat potential / actual fraud, malafide, mischief, impersonation, phishing, hacking, unauthorized access, sabotage, willful destruction, money laundering activities, threat to national security, for any other force majeure reasons etc;
iii. If the same is due to technical failure, modification, upgradation, variation, relocation, repair, and/or maintenance due to any emergency or for any technical reasons.
iv. If the same is due to any transmission deficiencies caused by topographical and geographical constraints/limitations.
v. If the mobile connection with which the Customer's Bank product/service is related ceases to be operational or in the Customer's possession or control.
vi. If the Customer indulges in any abusive or aggressive or threatening behavior or any act or any intimidation or harassment of any kind (be it verbal or physical or written) against any employee / representative / agent of Bank.
vii. Garnishee order, attachment order by competent court of jurisdiction and competent Government Authority and Quasi-Judicial bodies, death of the Customer, or the Customer is declared incompetent or insolvent by a court.
viii. If Bank believes, in its reasonable opinion, that cessation/ suspension is necessary.
c) The Customer agrees that the Bank may close Dormant Wallets with Rs. 0/- to Rs. 100/- balance, at its discretion in case where the wallet remains in dormant state or the registered mobile number of the Customer appears in the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL) issued by TRAI. Notice to this effect has been placed on the website of the Bank and the same may be viewed at: “https://www.airtel.in/bank/terms/webwallet/Dormant_Wallet_Notice.pdf.” An SMS communication will be sent to the customer, only in cases where the registered mobile number is not a part of the MNRL, intimating about wallet closure at least 30 days before the wallet closure activity. During these 30 days, the customer may choose to upgrade their dormant wallet to a Savings Account by downloading Airtel Thanks App or by visiting nearest banking point.
d) The value stored in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet shall not be refunded under any circumstances except in the event of Wallet closure initiated by the Customer or closure of a dormant Wallet by the Bank in accordance with applicable Bank’s internal policy or regulatory guidelines. The Bank shall process refund of such closed dormant Wallets, if any as per regulatory guidelines and only to the source account used for loading of the funds in the said Wallet. However, it is recommended that the Customer must utilise the funds stored in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet to make payments for bona-fide transactions.
2.7 Service Charge
a) The Customer shall pay the Service Charges (https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/bank-charges/min-full-kyc-wallets) prescribed by the Bank in the form and manner as prescribed for such payment of Charges. The Bank may at its discretion, change, amend, increase, modify or reduce the Service Charges from time to time with due notification to the Customer. For schedule of Services Charges please refer company website (https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/bank-charges/min-full-kyc-wallets ) or by calling on the Airtel Payments Bank customer care centre at 1800-23400.
b) Any value in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet that is utilized towards making payments for any Transaction shall be automatically debited from the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet. Bank's responsibility is limited to debiting of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and subsequent payment to any Merchant Establishment including financial services or transfers to the Bank. Bank does not endorse, promote, champion or warrant any goods and/or services that might be bought/availed or proposed to be bought/availed using the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
c) The Bank reserves the right to recover the applicable Charges for Transactions processed from the balance in the Customer’s Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
d) In case of shortage of funds in the Wallet of the Customer for debiting the Charges, the Bank reserves the right to debit such outstanding Service Charges from the Wallet of the Customer as and when the funds become available in the Wallet. The Customer agrees and understands that Airtel Payments Bank may at its sole discretion levy limits and/or Charges on the loading of monies to the Wallet from various payment modes and/or on transfer of the monies to the bank accounts.
2.8 Applicable Charges
a) Applicable charges and cash back shall be levied as per the Charges, Fees & Interest Rates published by the Bank on its website. The applicable charges may vary from time to time. For detailed information on the Applicable Charges for Wallet, the Customer may refer to Schedule of charges Min KYC & Full KYC Wallets at https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/bank-charges/min-full-kyc-wallets.
b) If the Customer has not transacted in their Wallet maintained with Airtel Payments Bank for a period of 3 consecutive calendar months, the Bank shall be entitled to levy a wallet maintenance fee of Rs. 20/- inclusive of applicable taxes, (Rupees Twenty Only) per month. The charges shall be debited from the existing Wallet balance in the 4th calendar month.
c) Thereafter, if the Customer remains inactive and does not perform any transaction during the 4th to 11th calendar months, Bank will be entitled to levy a wallet maintenance fee of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty Only) inclusive applicable taxes, for every month thereafter. Inactivity of a Wallet shall be determined based on the status of the Wallet in the preceding 3 consecutive calendar months and the fee shall be deducted from the existing Wallet balance accordingly in the 4th calendar month.
d) If the Wallet Balance is less than the Wallet Maintenance Charge scheduled to be debited from the Wallet, then the available balance amount will be debited from the Wallet and the leftover amount will be marked as lien which will be adjusted in the subsequent loading of the Wallet.
e) In case the Customer has performed at least one transaction of minimum amount of Rs. 50/- during the month of the charges debited from the Wallet, the charges shall be reversed to the amount equivalent to the amount charged from the Wallet. The qualifying transaction must be completed before the Wallet Maintenance Charge is debited and before the end of the same calendar month.

g) Reversal of Wallet Maintenance charges, as stated above, will be over and above other cashback.
Introduction of the Annual Maintenance Charge (AMC) and removal of Wallet Maintenance Charges (Effective from 1st January, 2026)
Annual Maintenance Charge
1. Effective 1st January 2026, an Annual Maintenance Charge (AMC) of INR 75 per year (exclusive of GST), will be levied by way of 4 quarterly installments of INR 18.75 (exclusive of GST) each, on all active Wallets at the beginning of each calendar quarter. The AMC will be collected starting 1st January 2026.
2. If sufficient balance is not available at the time of charging, the available balance will be debited. The remaining amount will be recovered automatically when funds are next added. If the Wallet balance is more than the Annual Maintenance Charge, then charges will be debited as per the schedule mentioned above.
3. You may opt out of AMC by either closing Your wallet anytime or upgrading to an Airtel Payments Bank Savings Account to continue enjoying banking benefits (T&C: https://www.airtel.in/bank/static/terms-conditions/savings-account).
2.9 Dormancy of Wallet
In case there are no financial transactions initiated by the Customer in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet for a continuous period of one year (excluding system generated transactions, such as, towards deduction of applicable charges) then, as per RBI guidelines, the Wallet shall be classified as ‘Dormant’ by the Bank after giving due notice to the Customer. Customer agrees that the Wallet status would change from Dormant to 'Active' only on Customer's Instruction to do so and after updating the KYC details of the Customer, as deemed necessary by the Bank in line with the applicable guidelines and the Bank’s policies. Customer understands that until the wallet status is Dormant', no transactions can be performed in the said Wallet.
2.10 Confidentiality & Privacy
a) Privacy of communication is subject to the terms of the permission granted by the RBI and RBI notifications/directives etc and the Privacy Policy provided at https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/static/privacy-policy. The Customers understands and agrees that in order to facilitate the provision of Airtel Payments Bank Wallet, the Bank may be required to disclose such information or particulars pertaining to the Customer to any government or regulatory authority, statutory or otherwise as may be required or requested.
b) The user interfaces, graphics, logos, design, compilation, information, computer code (including source code and object code), products, software, services, and all other elements of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet provided by the Bank (the "Materials") are protected by copyright, designs, patent, and trademark laws, international conventions and other applicable intellectual property and proprietary rights of either the Bank and/or its related Parties.
c) Any information relating to the Customer is generally used to provide the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet, improve the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and otherwise. For a detailed overview of what kind of information Bank collects, stores, uses, shares, please go through the privacy policy available on the Bank’s website.
2.11 Indemnity
a) The Customer agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Bank and/or the related parties from any and all claims, losses, damages, and liabilities, awards, judgements, costs and expenses, including and without limitation legal fees and expenses, arising out of or related to the use or misuse of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet or due to any violation of these Terms and Conditions, or any breach of the representations, warranties, and covenants.
2.12 Change of Terms
a) The Bank reserves the right to change, add / or delete and/or amend and/or modify these Terms and Conditions.
b) The Bank may modify, terminate and/or suspend Airtel Payments Bank Wallet to the Customer anytime with or without prior notice, due to any changes in internal policies, rules, regulations and laws set by relevant authorities/regulators.
c) Any changes to the applicable Terms and Conditions will be displayed on the Bank's website or will be sent to the Customer through SMS, USSD etc. This communication shall be valid and be considered as proper intimation to the customer by the Bank. Continued use the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet, post amendment in the applicable Terms & Conditions, will constitute the Customer’s acceptance to the revised Terms and Conditions.
2.13 Severability
If any part of this Terms and Conditions is adjudged illegal or inoperable for any reason, the same shall be severed from the remainder of the Terms and Conditions and only that portion of this Terms and Conditions that is specifically adjudged illegal or inoperable shall cease to govern the relationship between the Bank and the Customer.
2.14 Jurisdiction
The Courts at New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute regarding the use of Airtel Payments Bank Wallet including the interpretation and execution of these Terms and Conditions or any other document executed by the Customer or the Bank with respect to Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
2.15 Declaration by Customer
a) I (“the Customer”) agree that the opening and maintenance of Airtel Payments Bank Wallet is subject to rules and regulations introduced or amended from time to time by the Reserve Bank of India. I hereby certify that I have declared my status as per the rules applicable under section 285BA of the Income Tax Act, 1961 as notified by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) vide Notification No. S.O. 2155(E) dated 7 August 2015 and RBI Circular Ref No. DBR.AML.BC.No.36/14.01.001/2015-16 dated 28 August 2015 in this regard. I understand and acknowledge that as per the provisions of Income Tax Act, Rules made there under and the guidelines issued by the RBI in the matter, depending upon the residential status and/or other criteria stipulated therein, the Bank may have to report the details in respect of Wallet(s) as per the prescribed format to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) or other Government Agencies to comply with the obligations as per the Inter-Governmental Agreements (IGA) in respect of Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standards (CRS) and or any other similar arrangements. I further declare as under.
i. I hereby declare that I am a citizen and tax resident of the Republic of India and not of any other foreign country.
ii. I hereby declare that I am currently not a Politically Exposed Person (“PEP”) or family member/relative/close associate of PEP, as defined by the relevant RBI regulations.
iii. I certify that the above information as provided by me is applicable to me me and the documentary evidence provided by me are, to the best of my knowledge and belief, true, correct and complete and that I have not withheld any material information that may affect the assessment/categorization of my Wallet Account as a U S Reportable Account or Other Reportable Account or otherwise. I undertake the responsibility to declare and disclose within 30 days from the date of change, any changes that may take place in the information provided by me, as well as in the documentary evidence provided by me or if any certification becomes incorrect and to provide fresh and valid self-certification along with documentary evidence.
iv. I hereby confirm that the proofs/documents provided by me at the time of onboarding are valid and have not expired, wherever applicable. I hereby further undertake to inform to Airtel Payments Bank in writing in case of any change thereof.
v. I also agree that my failure to disclose any material fact known to me, now or in future, may invalidate me from transacting in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and the Bank would be within its right to put restrictions with respect to the operations of my Wallet or close it or report to any regulator and/or any authority designated by the Government of India (GOI) /RBI for the purpose or take any other action as may be deemed appropriate by the Bank, under the guidelines issued by CBDT/RBI from time to time, if the deficiency is not remedied by me within the stipulated period.
vi. I also agree to furnish and intimate to the Bank any other particulars that are called upon me to provide on Airtel Payments Bank Wallet of any change in law either in India or abroad in the subject matter herein.
vii. I agree to abide by the Bank's Terms and Conditions and rules in force and the changes thereto in T&Cs from time to time relating to my Account as communicated and made available on the Bank's website.
viii. I give my consent to the Airtel Payments Bank to display my balance in the Wallet/savings bank account on the Airtel Thanks app.
ix. I understand and acknowledge that there may be downtime, network congestion, outages, scheduled maintenance, or such other events beyond the reasonable control of Airtel Payments Bank and Airtel Payments Bank shall not be responsible for the same.
x. I hereby give my express consent and agree to the Bank in sharing my personal details including phone number and email id with a) any of its service providers, business correspondents, credit rating or investigation agencies or any other agencies or entity for the purpose of providing Banking, search, survey and allied services or for providing third party products including insurance, third party loans etc.
2.16 Disclaimer of Liability
- The Bank makes no express or implied warranty, guarantee, representation or undertaking whatsoever regarding the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet, which are not expressly mentioned herein.
- The Bank shall remain fully responsible to the Customer for any acts or omissions, by its authorized Business Correspondents (BCs) engaged in providing banking services on behalf of the Bank and such acts or omission be deemed to be that of the Bank.
- The Bank shall not be liable to any person for any delays, loss of business, profit, revenue or goodwill, anticipated savings, damages, fees, costs, expense, etc. or for any indirect or consequential loss, howsoever arising, on Airtel Payments Bank Wallet being unavailable/usage of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet or otherwise.
- The Bank shall not be liable to any person for injuries or damages resulting from omissions, interruptions, delays, errors in transmission, failures or defects in equipment, or disconnection of the mobile services by any telecom service provider including Bharti Airtel Limited or any other cause including but not limited to the failure to transmit, or any other causes beyond the control of the Bank or for any reason whatsoever.
- The Terms and Conditions herein shall be subject to the notifications/ guidelines issued by RBI, from time to time.
- The Bank will do its best to ensure that Customer Transactions and information remain secure and confidential. The Bank makes no warranty or representation of any kind in relation to the system and the network or their function or performance or for any loss or damage whenever and howsoever suffered or incurred by the Customer or by any person resulting from or in connection with the use of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
- The Bank does not in any manner warrant or state that the Services, technology platform or the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet so provided by it shall be uninterrupted or error free or free from any virus or other malicious destructive or corrupting code, program or macro. Airtel Payments Bank hereby specifically disclaims any representations, endorsements, guaranties, or warranties, express or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranty of sale-ability or fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of intellectual property rights.
2.17 Additional Terms & Conditions
- Customer acknowledges, agrees and confirms that if at any time it is in the knowledge of Airtel Payments Bank that the Customer has engaged or is engaging in any act or omission to defraud the Airtel Payments Bank, its affiliates, users or otherwise engages in unlawful, fraudulent, suspicious or other activities which suggest malafide intent of the Customer, whether to avail benefits of any offer, cashback, reward or incentive given by Airtel Payments Bank or otherwise, and/or which activities are detrimental to Airtel Payments Bank’s interest, Airtel Payments Bank reserves its right to claw-back or recover the benefits of such offer, cashback, reward or incentive given by Airtel Payments Bank with or without intimation to the Customer, at Airtel Payments Bank’s sole discretion, by debiting the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet The right under this Clause is in addition to any other right or legal recourse that Airtel Payments Bank may have under Applicable Laws.
- Any dispute with or complaint against any Merchant Establishment or financial services company or banks must be directly resolved by the Customer with the Merchant Establishment or financial services company or bank, without involving Airtel Payments Bank in any manner. It is clarified that the Bank shall not be responsible or liable for any deficiency in goods and/or services purchased using Airtel Payments Bank Wallet. This exclusion of liability shall apply even for goods and/or services made available by the Bank under promotional schemes. The Customer is instructed to satisfy themselves regarding the quality, quantity and fitness of any good and/or service before purchasing the same.
- Any amount transferred erroneously by the Customer to any Merchant Establishment or for any financial services company or to any bank account shall not be refunded to the Customer by the Bank in any circumstances.
- In the event of any dispute, the Bank records shall be binding as the conclusive evidence of the transactions carried out through use of Airtel Payments Bank Wallet.
- The Bank shall send all Customer communications and transaction alerts by SMS and the SMS shall be deemed to have been received by the Customer after they have been submitted for delivery to the mobile phone operator. The Bank, at its own discretion, may also contact the Customer, for all purposes necessary for providing & improving the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet and suggesting any additional services.
- The Customer agrees to receive all communications including transactional messages and marketing communications from the Bank.
- The Customer will be issued, Airtel Payments Bank Minimum KYC Wallet immediately after successful registration and after due mobile verification and appropriate declarations being received by Airtel Payments Bank.
- Airtel Payments Bank Wallet are non-transferrable and the Wallet issued to the Customer can in no manner be transferred to any other person/entity/organisation.
- The Bank may at its sole discretion introduce appropriate controls and checks including but not limited to revised Airtel Payments Bank Wallet limits. The Bank may request the Customer / beneficiaries of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet to provide such additional KYC details as part of ongoing monitoring and Customer due diligence which the Customer/beneficiaries shall promptly submit to Airtel Payments Bank without any delay or demur.
- The value stored in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet shall not be refunded under any circumstances except in the event of Wallet closure initiated by the Customer or closure of a dormant Wallet by the Bank in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines. The Bank shall process refund, if any as per regulatory guidelines and to the source account used for loading of the funds in the wallet. However, it is recommended that the Customer must utilise the funds stored in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet to make payments for bona-fide transactions.
- The amount to the credit of any Account in India with the Bank which has not been operated upon for a period of ten (10) years or any deposit or any amount remaining unclaimed for more than ten (10) years shall be credited to the Fund, within a period of three months from the expiry of the said period of ten (10) years. The Fund shall be utilized for promotion of depositors’ interest and for such other purposes which may be necessary for the promotion of depositors’ interests as specified by RBI from time to time. The depositor would, however, be entitled to claim from the Bank her deposit or any other unclaimed amount or operate her account after the expiry of ten (10) years, even after such amount has been transferred to the Fund. The Bank would be liable to pay the amount to the Customer/depositor/claimant and claim refund of such amount from the Fund.
- The Customer agrees that the language of any communication relating to Airtel Payments Bank Wallet on the Bank’s website and application shall be in English language.
- The Customer shall agree that the aggregate balance of all deposit accounts with Airtel Payments Bank shall not exceed Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lacs Only) at any point of time. In case, the balance exceeds the said limit, the Customer authorizes the Bank to cease operations in the said account till Customer Due Diligence (CDD) is completed.
- Upon closure of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet in accordance with Customer’s or Airtel Payments Bank discretion and/or at the end of the validity of the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet(s), any financial or non-financial services and/or products (including FASTag, insurance, etc.) shall stand deactivated as well.
- The balance held in the Airtel Payments Bank Wallet is not covered under Deposit Insurance.
- Airtel Payments Bank can from time-to-time levy/enforce such limits on loading of money from various payment modes to the Wallet(s) etc. as may be deemed appropriate from time to time in accordance with Applicable Laws, without any prior intimation to the Customer.
- Customers can avail a copy of the “CUSTOMER PROTECTION POLICY” and the “GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL POLICY" in Hindi or other regional languages by calling our customer care center on 1800-23400.
2.18 DND/NDNC
The Bank is also authorized to use the contact number/e-mail ID of the Customer, registered with the Bank, in connection with transactional, promotional as well as service related calls or messages, through Telephone/Mobile/SMS/e-mail/Whatsapp/ RCS by the Bank, its agents and/or its authorized service providers. However, the Customer have the right and option to reregister for DND/NDNC at any time at his/her discretion

4. PPI MTS Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions (“T&C”) apply to and regulate the issuance and usage of Prepaid Payment Instrument - Mass Transit Systems (“PPI-MTS”) offered by Airtel Payments Bank Limited (hereinafter, referred to as “Airtel Payments Bank” or “Bank”) to PPI-MTS holder (“Customer”). PPI-MTS shall be enabled only for payments across various modes of public transport such as metro, buses, rail, & waterways, tolls and parking. These T&C shall read together with terms and conditions for National Common Mobility Card (“NCMC”) accessible at https://www.airtelpayments.bank.in/static/terms-conditions/transit-card" and such other applicable terms and conditions as stipulated by Airtel Payments Bank from time to time, to the extent applicable (collectively, referred to as “General Terms”). By registering for or using PPI-MTS, Customer agrees to be bound by below T&C and General Terms. Terms used herein but not defined shall have the meaning assigned thereto under the General Terms.
4.1 Definitions
- “Fare” means the amount payable to the operators for transit services.
- “Fare System” means the computerised system operated and managed by Operators whereby, inter alia, payment of Fares in the Public Transport System may be effected through the use of any PPI-MTS;
- “Transit Usage Device” means any public transport fare payment device forming part of the Fare System which is used to affect the payment of Fares.
4.2 Limits
1. The monthly reloading limit of PPIs- MTS will be RS. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only).
- The PPI-MTS shall be subjected to yearly cash loading limit of RS. 49,999/- (Rupees Forty Nine Thousand Nine Ninety-Nine).
3. The PPIs – MTS shall be subject to yearly re-loading limit of Rs. 1,20,000/- inclusive of Cash loading limits.
4. The closing balance in such PPIs- MTS at any point in time shall not be above Rs. 3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand Only).
- Loading of PPIs- MTS will be permitted through Cash, UPI, Net banking, Debit & Credit Cards.
- Minimum Cash loading limit for PPis – MTS will be Minimum RS. 1/- (Rupees One Only) per transaction and maximum of RS. 3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand Only) per transaction.
- No interest shall be payable by the Bank on the amount available / loaded on PPI-MTS.
- PPIs- MTS holders shall not be allowed to upgrade their Wallet to Savings Bank Account.
4.3 Refunds, Transfer and Cash Withdrawals
Facility of refund, cash-outfund transfer and to withdrawal of cash shall not be available.
4.4 Validity / Redemption
Customer will not be allowed to redeem PPI-MTS at any point of time. This can be used up to ‘Nil’ balance and has perpetual validity.
4.5 Fees and Charges
Customer grants the right to the Bank to levy charges and fees at any time for issuance / transactions carried out by the Customer after due intimation and agrees to make payment of such charge and fees. Charges if any shall be applicable as per schedule of charges as available on Bank’s website.
4.6 Customer Obligations
- Customer agrees to share his mobile number and such other personal details as may be requested by the Bank or its registered banking point for verification and to make purchase journey smooth.
- Customer understands that One Time Password (OTP) shall be received on his registered mobile number to complete the purchase journey, and he agrees to share the same with the Bank / its registered banking point on demand.
- Customer understands that each Operator is at liberty to determine the Fares (including any concessionary Fares) payable and the manner in which such Fares are payable and Customer agrees to abide with the terms and conditions as may be prescribed by said Operator from time to time. Customer shall exercise due care and diligence when presenting / using it for transactions and shall ensure that it has sufficient value before presenting it for payment.
- Customer agrees that he shall not use PPI-MTS for payment of any illegal/unlawful purchase/purposes.
- Customer accepts that it is his complete and sole responsibility to use PPI-MTS in a safe and secure manner and/or to ensure its protection and/or be liable for all the transactions entered in to and/or routed through PPI-MTS. Any misuse and unauthorized transaction shall immediately be reported to the police.

Airtel Payments Bank reserves the right to stop offering PPI-MTS or modify terms pertaining to PPI-MTS, upon change in business model/statutory & regulatory requirement/customers’ feedback.
5. GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL
In case the Customer has any complaint relating to the features of any of the Bank services that the Customer holds and/or avails of, Customer can approach the Grievance Redressal Cell within the Bank at grievance.officer@airtelbank.com for a resolution and if he/she does not get a satisfactory response within 30 days of lodging the complaint, then, under the Banking Ombudsman Scheme 2006, such Customer can approach the Ombudsman appointed by the RBI, in charge of the region where he/she has an Account, details of which are available at www.bankingombudsman.rbi.org.in.
